PB Football Academy

 

  

What is it?

  • PB Football Academy is the name of the football development programme run by Life Leisure at Stockport Sports Village.
  • Young people take part in weekly football sessions that focus on technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social elements of football.
  • Players are assessed at various stages to identify progress, strengths and areas for improvement. Players receive quarterly reports on their progress.
  • Coaches are a minimum FA Level 2, and have also completed FA Youth Module training. All coaches are DBS checked.
  • Sessions are age and ability appropriate.

As well as weekly football sessions children will also experience:

  • Strength based gym sessions
  • Nutrional advice
  • Video analysis

Who is it for?

For young people aged 6-16 years. Aimed at those players who have some experience of playing competitive football, either for a school team or at a grassroots club.

When is it?

Every Friday 6pm – 7.30pm. The sessions start at 6pm so you should aim to arrive 5-10 minutes earlier.

Participants should report to the Football office.

How much is it?

The first session is FREE.

The cost will be £6.00 for a 1 ½ hour training session.

How do I sign up?

How do I pay?

There are two options:

  1. Pay weekly: £6 paid by cash or card at the football reception
  2. Non-contract direct debit - £24. 30 days’ notice must be given before cancellation. All direct debit members get access to Life Leisure Kids classes.

Are players scouted?

We do not promise that players will be scouted but occasionally we will invite club scouts to attend sessions.

We have links to several Charter Standard junior clubs and will be able to signpost you to one appropriate.


Do they play games?

We will play internal matches as a way of assessing player development. We are not committed to playing other teams or academies but this will be something we will be looking to do at various times in the season.

What clothes do I have to wear?

  • Most sessions take place outdoor on 3G astroturf.
  • Moulded football boots would be most appropriate, but astroturf trainers are also acceptable.
  • Football Kit – t-shirts, shorts, long socks, shinpads, water resistant jacket (for wet weather).
  • It is compulsory for all participants to purchase PBFA attire. The compulsory package consists of t-shirt, shorts and socks and costs £21. You will be expected to purchase this within the first month of attendance.
  • Additional items can be purchased.

Are there specific sessions for goalkeepers?

PB Football Academy has a dedicated goalkeeper coach, but as well as direct goalkeeper training, keepers will also take part in sessions with outfield players.

Will there be rewards / presentation evenings?

There will be regular parent’s evenings and we will take various opportunities throughout the year to celebrate progress.

How do you communicate with us?

Players will be given letters containing information on a regular basis. You will also be able to find out information by visiting the PB Football Academy Facebook and Twitter pages. On occasions a member of the coaching team may contact a parent directly.
